I can't speak highly enough about this laptop. For comparison, it looks and feels like a MacBook Pro but with Nvidia graphics so you can actually game without issues, unlike a MacBook Pro. Also, the screen not being 4K almost pushed me towards another manufacturer but I am so happy I didn't. The 144Hz screen refresh is absolutely stunning and lets you run every AAA game titles on "Ultra" settings while easily maintaining 144 frames per second. There are laptops reviews comparing this to other similar machines with RTX 2080 max q graphics but most of these are highly inaccurate. While gaming on battery the performance decreases as expected. While benchmarking the laptop and utilizing the laptop screen I scored 18k Firestrike and 13.8k 3D Graphics through PassMark's 3DMark. While utilizing an external monitor I was able to increase my Firestrike by almost 2000 and my 3D Graphics to 15.5k+ utilizing Razer Cortex and Game Mode through Razer Synapse. It performs nearly identical to the actual desktop GeForce RTX 2080 where most reviews claim all Max Q cards are much weaker versions of the full desktop card. The reason I point this out is the RTX 2080 Max Q Design in this model has 12.5% more power (90 watt vs 80 watt) than the model used inside 99% of other manufacturer's laptops which truly helps set this laptop apart from the rest. This card functions at a much higher level than any site depicts. There is also a mini-DisplayPort that can utilize the G-Sync functionality of an external monitor so you can have a complete workstation. The adaptability of this laptop with upgrade-able SSD (2TB) and memory (64GB) make it a viable machine to keep around for quite awhile. I have to say at least 1 negative so I'll focus on the finger print magnet factor. The black anodized aluminum finish shows oils from fingers VERY easily and can detract from the professional and clean look of the laptop. I HIGHLY suggest purchasing a Toastmade protective cover if you want the laptop to stand out but look professional. I would suggest Dbrand skins in matte black to benefit from protection

Those cards since launch. Just Nvidia didn't advertise the fact. #10 Need a review of this driver vs previous one on that claim, stat #11 Need a review of this driver vs previous one on that claim, stat Need to separate game patch performance increases from driver increases, since they are measuring from the release of the game and not driver to driver. Last edited: Mar 9, 2017 #12 Need to separate game patch performance increases from driver increases, since they are measuring from the release of the game and not driver to driver. Well, that makes it kinda dissapointing. Thanks man #13 Guru3D did a quick test with a few games, and the results are below disappointing. Some titles gain nothing, others lose 1 fps, a some gain 1-3 fps improvement (all of which can be considered within the margin of error anyway). Hitman shows a more tangible boost but considering that DX11 was miles ahead of DX12 in Hitman (with nvidia cards), DX11 is proly still better in that game. So all in all, meh. #14 While testing RainbowSix Siege on GTX 1070, I lost overall FPS by -2, lost average FPS by -3 but I gained wooping 7 FPS on Max. Ran Test twice to get the average. #15 As always will wait for the FIX driver after 1 or 2 weeks. #16 welp, disappointing i guess :\ #17 Just optimizations for these games only?Meh... I expected overall improvements such as higher 3D Mark Firestrike scores and such.. No? Meh.... #18 The most important excuse for frequent driver releases from Nvidia is so they can jam another GFE 3.0 install down your throat so that eventually you forget to untick that box, or get so annoyed that you'll just install it to not be constantly harassed about it. #19 The most important excuse for frequent driver releases from Nvidia is so they can jam another GFE 3.0 install down your throat so that eventually you forget to untick that box, or get so annoyed that you'll just install it to not be constantly harassed about it. You did -120mV, or whatever value is stable for your use. When overclocking to 4.2Mhz and beyond, it is possible that voltage offset will have to positive. Override, you can ignore, unless you want to really overclock. It is easier to find a stable voltage with a high overclock, with override, sending a specific voltage to the cpu, so even when it downclocks to 800Mhz let's say on idle, the voltage is the same. ThanksCertainly not recommeded because it is possible to have a bad flash and brick your machine, or change settings and damage your machine, and void the warranty. If you are familiar with unlocking Bios, so that you can have access to essential settings to get the most performance out of the HK cpu then it is not too hard, if not, then not recommended and not much to gain anyways, since most settings on this Bios do nothing anyways, most Power Limits are controlled by the EC firmware and not the Bios.Hey okay thanks for the heads up.

My i7-7820HK lost at the lottery compared to the other machine I had with the same CPU, so I can't undervolt as well as I would like.Since I find precisionX a bit annoying, because of the standard presets that I can't change and the fact that it switches to Normal preset automatically on battery, I opted to do some changes, by unlocking my Bios.So now in the Bios I can adjust the standard presets as well, not just the Custom one.Daily driver - Custom preset 4 cores 3.9Mhz (offset -60mV)Superclock - 4 cores 4.2MHz, ring 3.9MHz (offset 0mV)Normal - 4 cores 2.9MHz (offset -120mV) - This is my battery profile since precisionx switches to battery automatically.Silent - Stock clocks 39-37-36-35 (offset -90mV) EVGA SC17 4K G-SYNC | i7-7820HK | GTX 1080 | 32GB DDR4 3200MHz | Samsung 960 Pro 2TB + 2TB Micron 1100| Firestrike | [email protected] Blade 14 FHD | i7-6700HQ | GTX 1060 | 16GB DDR4 2400MHz | Samsung SM961 1TB | Firestrike KiddHazze New Member Total Posts : 17 Reward points : 0 Joined: 2017/12/10 09:02:16 Status: offline Ribbons :

A little...more like quite a lot...I though the msi coolers keeps the Hawaii cores around the mid 70-low 80s... Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here... What? Well, that's what I was thinking. D'you reckon this could be down to the mediocre airflow in my case and the fact that the fans of the GPU is mm away from the case's basement, or have I got a problem with my card? It doesn't get that hot in stuff like Rocket League or anything, and I've had the thing for 3/4 of a year now. It's not clogged with dust at all, I've checked. Would it be too much of a bother if you posted screenshots of your settings? That would help me a lot. And from what I understand, don't even mess with the settings in the bios, just use mobile precision x?
