We are an extremely low volume user of the service, we use the SMTP service to send alarms from our townhome rental 1800 miles away. We have used the service for the last few years and find it dependable with little or no down time. We use SocketLabs SMTP service to send alarms and status of equipment in the field to those that need to know. “With the other organizations, it took us a long time to work our way through their documentation and to work out how we could integrate to our existing environment. SocketLabs won the day for a whole multitude of reasons.Eproductive ultimately decided to build a custom integration using SocketLabs sample code based on a Node.js platform. This implementation took less than two days. “It basically listens for inbound API connections from the SocketLabs platform. The notification API from SocketLabs connects to it and pushes down all the send details—the bouncebacks, the unsubscribes, the complaints— everything. We weren’t familiar with how to code in Node.js, so the fact that SocketLabs provided a working example for us meant that we could take that and quickly customize it for our own needs,” asserts Baker.Data integrity and email reliabilityEqually important is the quality of the email addresses the company uses. So, Eproductive relies on SocketLabs to ensure the highest levels of data integrity and email performance and deliverability. SocketLabs’ safeguards, best practices, and policies help Eproductive maintain its reputation with the mailbox providers. Says Baker: “We send to millions of email addresses around the country, and therefore, it’s imperative that we maintain clean address lists and that we don’t resend to invalid addresses for fear of us then being blocked or blacklisted by mail recipient servers.” He praised SocketLabs’ reporting capabilities, including the ability to look at graphs, charts, and statistics, in addition to suppression lists, bounces, and complaints. “These features add a huge amount of value to us,” he explained.GDPR compliance and moreAnd, the fact that SocketLabs was compliant with General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) gave Eproductive critical peace of mind regarding data privacy and personal data protection. “It was reassuring to see that they made themselves GDPR complaint. Because if they did not, we’d have had to move to a European-based mail provider, which wasn’t a pleasant prospect given our past experiences.” Moreover, Eproductive is encouraged by the fact that SocketLabs already supports two-factor authentication for logins ahead of any government or industry mandates.Outstanding customer service and supportAmong the most satisfying aspects. socketlabs socketlabs-setup socketlabs-tutorial socketlabs-download socketlabs-features socketlabs-review Updated Improve this page Total downloads of packages. Of the relationship for Eproductive is the quality of SocketLabs’ customer service, which continues to exceed expectations. “We’ve found the team to be very responsive and very professional—and that’s key in our business.” Baker notes that he has seen other companies scale too quickly and then be unable to respond to the support needs of its subscribers. However, his experience with SocketLabs has been unique and special. “Their support team is absolutely fabulous. It’s an absolute delight to know that SocketLabs is looking after our interests. We’re not being treated like a number.”Peace of mindWhen asked what really stands out about SocketLabs, Baker can’t land on just one thing. He thinks it’s because so many of the important features are included with the base platform. “Performance and throughput, scalability, resilience, up time, quality of the support team, they’re all rated at a one. I can’t say that I would pick one or the other or a handful. I would say that everything together makes that package a delight to use.”Why Choose SocketLabs?Cutting-edge email technologyHighly personalized serviceManaged migration and warmingAn amazing customer experience You can use an in-house SMTP server to relay outbound email to your SocketLabs On-Demand account. This would enable you to queue outbound email locally if your connection to our service is unavailable Using an intermediary relay between your applications and SocketLabs On-Demand service can be a great way to increase performance and reliability of your outbound email messages. It can be a hassle to develop custom applications that manage connections and queue messages in case of an ISP downtime. You can set your application to transfer outbound messages over to a local IIS SMTP Server, which can then handle all the details of transferring the messages to SocketLabs for delivery. The screenshots and details provided are assuming IIS 6 Manger is installed – that includes users running IIS7.Once you have everything set up with IIS you can follow these simple steps to set up the IIS SMTP relay to SocketLabs. In the IIS 6 Manager, right-click SMTP Virtual Server and select Properties(Optional) Check off the box to Enable logging.Click on the Delivery tab and then click the Advanced button. In the Smart host text field enter your SocketLabs SMTP Server address provided on the SMTP Settings page of your SocketLabs On-Demand Control Panel account. Most customers will enter smtp.socketlabs.com in the field.Click “OK” to accept these settings. Now from the Delivery tab click Outbound Security.Select Basic authentication and enter in your SMTP Username and Password.Note: This is not the same username and password used to log-in to the SocketLabs On-Demand Control Panel. Your welcome email will contain the instructions on obtaining your SMTP credentials.Check the box next to TLS encryption and click OK.At this point you have now successfully established IIS to serve as an intermediary relay between your applications and the SocketLabs On-Demand Service. We recommend securing your relay by enabling authentication for your IIS SMTP Virtual Server and/or configuring relay restrictions. Many of today’s scanners allow you to scan directly to email without having a computer attached to the scanner. This is great news for offices that need to scan and email documents without having to have a computer attached. In order to send an email this way, your scanner will usually need to connect to an SMTP server.Hosted mailbox services like Google Apps, Office365, and others may not provide your organization the advanced and robust SMTP capabilities required by some scanners to send messages. If your scanner supports only SMTP services that don’t require TLS/SSL, the SocketLabs On-Demand SMTP relay servers are the perfect solution. There are generally 3 pieces of information you will need to enter into your scanner: an SMTP server address, an SMTP user name, and an SMTP password. To get your credentials, just sign up for a free SocketLabs On-Demand account. This will give you access to a cloud-based SMTP server that your scanner can use to deliver the email.Once your SocketLabs account has been provisioned, you can log in and view your server. From the configuration menu you can get your SMTP credentials, which you can then enter into your scanner.Once this is set up, your scanner should be able to send email. You will also get the added benefit of being able to log into the SocketLabs Control Panel to see reports on the email your scanner is generating. If you are having problems, it may be that your Internet Service Provider is blocking port 25 on your Internet connection. Port 25 is used to connect to SMTP servers to send email and many service providers block this port to prevent malicious software from sending spam. The solution is to use another port, such as 2525, which is also supported by SocketLabs for sending email. If you have an older scanner that does not support SMTP authentication using a username and password, SocketLabs can whitelist your external IP address as an alternative means of accessing your server. To set this up you simply need to email our support team at [email protected] and let them know your account number or server ID and the IP address to add to the whitelist for your server. Important note: IP whitelisting is only available on Tin or above service plans. If you are still having email delivery problems, please let us help. I am sure that one of our experts would love to help you get your email flowing. That’s what we do! Just give us a call or send an email to [email protected].Comments
