GameSkylords Reborn is a community-made, non-profit relaunch of BattleForge. BattleForge was an online Real-Time Strategy game with elements of a Trading Card Game, developed by EA Phenomic and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on Windows in March 2009. The game servers were shut down on the 31st of October 2013 at midnight (UTC). There are several sub-races of elves scattered across Nyn.Sky Elves A Skyelf The Sky Elves were the first race of elves, being the mortal children of the winds, with delicate features and wings that allowed them to soar freely though the skies. During the Elemental Wars, they were enslaved by the sons of stone, the giants, and their wings ripped off. The giants quickly discovered that these elves could not survive being removed from the sight of the sky and sun, and were renamed the sun elves.Sun Elves A Sun Elf The sun elves are the descendents of the sky elves. Though they no longer have wings, they still cannot survive being out of sight of the sun and sky for too long. Over the centuries, they have shifted their affinity to fire, and are now commonly found among the other sons of Fire, such as the orcs.Wood Elves A Wood Elf The wood elves were sun elves that fled towards the forests, eventually residing amongst the trees and learning the ways of nature.Winterling ElvesWinterling elves were sun elves that settled in the northern mountains of Lyr. Adapting to the harsh conditions of their new homes, they gained an affinity to Frost and can be found in the armies of Lyr.Dark Elves A Dark Elf Dark elves fled to the Shadowlands, a twisted wasteland where magical storms raged. For those of you sticking with Vista, Microsoft has finally officially released DirectX 11 for Vista, after having spent the last couple of months in beta. This final release looks to be the same as the last beta released earlier this month.The update is KB971512, which is being released as part of a larger Platform Update for Vista that includes a few other things that are being backported for Vista. Vista SP2 is the prerequisite, so if you aren’t already on SP2 you’ll need to update.All of these updates should be available on Windows Update.We ran a quick sanity check on our Vista install from our Win7 Performance Guide from earlier this week, and there are no surprises. Just like with DX10, DX11 titles (all 2 of them ) perform the same between the two OSes. Overwolf is a utility app for games, which adds on social features.Overwolf is both a game and the name of the company which produced it. The Overwolf app allows game players to insert different social and other components into an existing game. For instance, Facebook, TeamSpeak, video capture, Skype, and a browser. The app lets players continue playing their game without the need to exit in order to use the app add ins.Hardcore gamers will now be able to click a tab on the side of the screen to access Overwolf, and from there select the add in which is desired. For group games, Skype can be desired to keep track of things, and now it can run in the same window as the game without any problems. When players are stuck in a game and need help, a browser window offers the option of searching for the answer while still in-game.
