2025-04-21On. When there is a better understanding of the body, students can slowly take their awareness towards the breathing. Notice that this pose is an asymmetrical pose due to its twisting action. In the twist one side of the body is active in a deep stretch whereas the other side is compressed to support the stretching side. Along with this, even the breathing is powerful on one side, therefore when twisting towards the right side, (although the twist is not deep), the right nostril (pingala - sun) is active, and when twisting towards the left side, the left nostril (ida - moon) is active. Which means with this action there is scope for balance between the two sides of the body - bringing balance in the sushumna nadi, the main channel of life. When this balance occurs, it impacts the functioning of the internal organs along with the emotions related to the many organs, muscles, nerves, etc. Hence there is a sense of balance in the entire body.Preparatory Poses: Svarga Dvijasana Prep Pose (Bird Of Paradise Prep Pose) strengthens the muscles of the legs, hips, shoulders and legs, preparing the body for more challenging forward bends, twists, and balance poses. Some of these poses are; Svarga Dvijasana Prep Pose Ii (Bird Of Paradise Prep Pose Ii) which helps keep the legs straight, Baddha Ardha Chandrasana (Bound Half Moon Pose) which is a balancing pose, or Namitum Svarga Dvijasana (Bowing Bird Of Paradise Pose), or the likes.
2025-03-27Bird Of Paradise Prep Pose Benefits The practice of Bird Of Paradise Prep Pose (Svarga Dvijasana Prep Pose) helps students prepare their body for many challenging poses that require strong hips, leg muscles, core, shoulders and arms, along with breath-body awareness. Given below are the details of the benefits derived with this practice:Stretches, Strengthens, Lengthens: The forward bend action of the upper body along with a gentle twist helps stretch the muscles of the back, hips, gluteus, hip flexors, psoas, and legs. The twisting action of the shoulders helps stretch the chest, upper abdomen, sides of the torso (one side) and the arms. With the lengthening of the arms and legs, the shoulders and hips gain better strength, respectively. The compressing of the abdomen, pelvis, hips, and shoulders on one side when done correctly helps the other side to expand and stretch deeper. Thus they work together to move comfortably into the baddha hasta (bound hands). The twisting action of the chest and shoulders also impacts the neck and facial muscles, which have a great role to play with some of the challenging poses. Flexibility and Range of Motion: The deep stretch and lengthening of the involved muscles in Bird Of Paradise Prep Pose helps to open the tightness around the joints, ensuring better range of mobility of the joints like the hips, spine, shoulders, elbows, wrist, and knees. While the hips and knees need to remain stable and strong, yet some action in the muscles, ligaments and tissues around

From the top of his head grow several long feathers that tap the ground as he begins his dance. This dancing bird is Carola’s parotia, just one of the many birds of paradise that live on the island of New Guinea. This male bird is attempting to impress a row of females that are watching him from a branch above. B Keeping the females’ attention isn’t easy. He pauses for dramatic effect, then commences his dance again. His neck sinks and his head goes up and down, head feathers bouncing. He jumps and shakes his feathers until his performance finally attracts the attention of one of the females. An Amazing Performance C In the dense jungle of New Guinea is nature’s most absurd theater, the special mating game of the birds of paradise. To attract females, males’ feathers resemble costumes worthy of the stage. The bright reds, yellows, and blues stand out sharply against the green of the forest. It seems that the more extreme the male’s costume and colors, the better his chance of attracting a mate. D In addition to having extremely beautiful feathers, each species has its own type of display behavior. Some dance on the ground, in areas that they have cleared and prepared like their own version of a dance floor. Others perform high in the trees. E The male red bird of paradise shows off his red and yellow feathers in a display called a “butterfly dance.” He spreads and moves his LOVE wings
