What is CCcleaner? - Microsoft Community

Hi, I downloaded the offline kit for BD Total Security 2017 (64 bit) and have tried every possible way to run it but the process just stays dormant in the Task Manager and then nothing happens throughout. I have tried this by after disabling my default antivirus (Windows Defender) & windows firewall. I tried scanning the system with updated Malwarebytes and then cleaning the registry with CCCleaner and also ran the New Bitdefender Uninstall tool, both in Safe Mode and Normal Mode but upon double clicking the installer.exe (ran with Admin rights, after extracting bitdefender_ts_21_64b) while disconnecting from the internet, no dialog box pops up. Surprisingly, in safe mode, upon double clicking installer.exe, it opens the Bitdefender installation dialog box but the next message I see is "You must run the setup in Normal Mode". This is highly frustrating and I am clueless as to what is could be possible cause, especially when my system is clean and virus free. I am running Windows 10, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM and have sufficient disk space. 0 Categories How to send a test sound/tone through individual speakers? For R2.82:View attachment 135972View attachment 135973Note that Realtek HD manager does not open with R2.82So, I am not sure how to test whether this is working or not? What I tried, was to download a DTS trailer demo and ran it through VLC Media Player with these settings and it seemed to be working?View attachment 135974So is there a way to configure and test each individual speaker(distance/independent volume), including the Surround L/R, asthe test signal in Sound Manager plays a stereo sound, like the oooold Realtek HD manager used to do in the early 2010s?For now, I'm going to run with the R2.82 modded driver and assume it working as DTS and hopefully get my surround game on for the first time? Crapware has installed one or more symlinks or shortcuts called Pro Tools.exe. What you think you is a Pro Tools.exe is just that symlink or shortcut. Waves Studiorack does this crap with multiple DAWs and is known for causing exactly this problem. I have no idea if Waves uninstallers will remove all the symlinks/shortcuts correctly or not. But just delete those symlinks/shortcuts manually (and reinstall Pro Tools if needed). CCcleaner like tools will not know to remove these. Doing a full clean install of Windows would fix this, but I expect here the Windows install that was done was on the existing volume which kept the errant symlinks/shortcuts.You can google more about working with symlinks and shortcuts if they are new to you.How Waves decided to package this seems just a bad bad idea. 12-20-2023, 11:21 AM Moderator Join Date: Jan 2003 Location: Tampere, Finland Posts: 25,255 Re: Pro Tools won't load (no splash screen) Quote: Originally Posted by Darryl Ramm Waves crapware Oohhh... and I get bashed when I say WavesHell __________________ JanneWhat we do in life, echoes in eternity.. #1 mhas12 Members 8 posts OFFLINE Gender:Male Local time:02:48 PM Posted 22 May 2024 - 03:48 PM Hello Good People, So i got hacked the other day , and the day it happened i did not visit any malicious websites nor ran any sort of third party programmes. I do however, had my chrome browser open, along with lots of extensions that i use for work. The immediate attacks response was Disk usage shot upto to 100 % and made it almost impossible to even open a new folder or open start. One of my email accounts that i had open, started asking for verification but thankfully the password of it was not stored on google chrome. I suspected intrusion might have occurred through the browser most probably through one of the chrome extensions, but decided to check it as far as i could. In order to make the windows responsive, i thought to disable the wifi or any internet connection, and after some 10 minutes, the disk usage dropped and i was able to operate pc and install malwarebytes that i had available. MalwareBytes reported that hijack shell gen a trojan was detected, and once i was able to qurantine it, i decided to restart my pc. A little note here, when i opened the start button to restart the window, the microsoft account profile was glowing, asking me to provide phone number to protect it. Fortunately though, i used the pin to login, so password was protected, because i never stored it on my pc but I guess the attacked had access to entire pc as well. After restart, the windows loading got stuck at the windows loading screen, where i had to once again restart it. And the second time, after i think i had waited for maybe some 20-30 minutes before i was able to log back in. The disk usage once again shot up to a 100 % and once again the pc became inoperable. Could not swtich the windows defender on, and malware bytes won't open. Once again had to reinstall it, switched off the internet and once again ran the malwarebytes, and it found the trojan active once again. Qurantined it. Ran Rkill, which reported the regsitry for windows defender was disabled. Ran the malwarebytes again, and it found nothing this time. Ran Kaspersky which found nothing. ran hitmanpro which got stuck at 99% and wont move forward, and ran AdWCleaner to reset the policies of google chrome along with resetting firewall and TCP/IP. But even after doing all that, the windows loading time wouldn't go down and it would still spend some 10 minutes loading up, and disk usage at 100 % made it almost impossible to operate the pc. Had to turn the internet access off, ran malware bytes which found nothing. At this point, i had to get back to work, and had no option but to reinstall windows. I had saved all windows events, registry errors that CCcleaner found,. Between 1-3 minutes to open its content.2. How did i accomplish this?Turned off the internet, pc became somewhat responsive. Already had a bootable windows 10 usb lying around, so booted its menu after restart. Formatted the Windows or C: drive completely and reinstalled windows. 3. Did i save anything or removed everything?I saved All Of Windows events logs CCcleaner found registry issues into a text file Copy of windows registry Ran FarBar and saved its Scan Files and Additions file. 4. Did reinstall resolve the issue? Yes it did, pc is responsive, windows defender is turned on again (which was turned off from registry when it was infected), and everything seems to be in order for now. I have never taken virus or malware attacks too serious because in almost all the past cases whenever i knew i had the possibility of pc security compromise, i took precautions beforehand just to be sure and i knew the source where the attack atleast originated from. e.g. visiting some game websites to download trainers etc., or pluggin in usbs that's plugged into the public computers, or downloading some gamemods or cracks and running them etc. The ironic thing here is that this happend on my windows 10 work pc (that
