The ClueFinders’ 5th Grade Adventures is an adventure game that builds on fifth graders’ interest in mystery and adventure as well as their abilities in logical thinking, mathematics, science, geography, and language arts. All of the activities in The Clue Finders’ 5th Grade Adventures have been specifically designed to develop this wide range of skills. Each activity also encourages players to use new skills and emerging thinking abilities as they share adventures with characters very much like themselves.An unexpected tsunami capsizes the ClueFinders’ vessel while they are on an oceanic expedition. Joni and Santiago regain consciousness on an uncharted volcanic island to discover Owen, Leslie, and everyone else aboard missing. Alarmingly, the volcano shows signs of imminent eruption, and strangely, it seems to be thwarting their efforts to escape. The ClueFinders need you! As Joni and Santiago roam the strange island in search of clues, they meet groups of islanders who each offer their own theories about the island’s behavior. Help the ClueFinders as they collect and use information to save the islanders and themselves! Getting to the bottom of the mystery of the volcano will require thoughtful problem solving and courage. Santiago Rivera (born 1987) is a member of the ClueFinders. He has the title of Team Equipment and Inventions Officer.Appearance[]Santiago is of Latin American descent. He has short black hair with bangs that hang over his forehead. He is typically depicted with black irises, although in the original release of The ClueFinders Math Adventures Ages 9-12, he sometimes has light brown eyes. In some promotional artwork, he has brown irises. In 4th Grade Adventures, his skin tone was depicted as closer to tan, while it is pinkish-beige in most games. He is twelve years old and in the seventh grade. He is the tallest of the ClueFinders. His signature outfit consists of a yellow sweat hoodie with a greenish-black shirt underneath it, blue jeans, and tennis shoes, which are brown and tan.Outfit Variations[]In The ClueFinders 4th Grade Adventures: Puzzle of the Pyramid, Santiago wore a light blue T-shirt, dark blue jeans, and dark blue shoes.In The ClueFinders 5th Grade Adventures, Santiago wore scuba gear for the underwater portions, consisting of a black wetsuit with blue accents, a blue scuba pack, black flippers, a weight belt, and a blue helmet.In the original release of The ClueFinders Math Adventures Ages 9–12: Mystery in the Himalayas, Santiago wore a dark yellow winter coat with brown around the top, a light yellow shirt underneath it, and the same jeans and shoes as his signature outfit. His outfit was nearly identical in the newer release of the same game, except his shirt was grayish-blue.In some promotional/case artwork, Santiago wears a green hoodie.Personality and Character Traits[]Santiago is a highly skilled mechanic who can repair anything. In The ClueFinders 6th Grade Adventures: Empire of the Plant People, Joni states that he is "the best scientist" among them. Santiago is rather sensible and level-headed, which contradicts Joni's rashness. He is usually hesitant about following Joni's more reckless exploits, preferring to think first before going into action. Despite this, Joni and Santiago get along very well with each other. While not a coward, he prefers to avoid danger and sometimes displays nervousness at specific prospects.According to his profile in LapTrap's "Cluefinders Club" file, Santiago also seems to like music, indicated by his taking saxophone lessons and wanting to learn bass guitar and listen to vinyl records while working.
