Hello,This post is to share how I (try to) use cura with a da Vinci Jr. 2.0.Since january 2020, some 3D printers from XYZPrinting can received gcode from cura (nano Series: da Vinci nano, da Vinci nano w, mini Series: da Vinci miniMaker, Vinci mini w, Vinci mini w+, Jr. Series: da Vinci Jr. 1.0, da Vinci Jr. 1.0 w, da Vinci Jr. 1.0 3-in-1, Pro Series: da Vinci Jr. 1.0 Pro, da Vinci Jr. 1.0 A Pro, da Vinci Jr. WiFi Pro), but not the da Vinci Jr 2.0 Mix.The Jr 2.0 Mix is strange, with one extruder and 2 spoolsI would like to use cura because :- I would like to have choices for my slicer, and not locked with the XYZWare software- I would like to have more choices for infill typesWhat I've lost :- the simple software XYZware, which works out of the box- the change of mixing the 2 spools inside one item. I can have only one mix for each item (sample : item 1 with 10% spool #1 and 90% spool #2 from bottom to the top). A cura plugin could be developt for that, I think.- the display of the time during the printing phase, on the printer.I've read the amazing "print gcode files to miniMaker" ( … minimaker/ ), and I've adapted the code for my 3D Printer.I’ve modified the following lines :diff --git a/miniMoverLib/xyzv3.cpp b/miniMoverLib/xyzv3.cppindex 3a217f9..6e27d84 100644--- a/miniMoverLib/xyzv3.cpp+++ b/miniMoverLib/xyzv3.cpp@@ -38,7 +38,7 @@ // uncomment to force wifi connections to close. Physical size than the one from Cura? The output from Cura is of correct size or calibrated for they do match with the physical measurement after printing. I am looking into ideamaker for others reported having good prints with it and I like the feature that I can manually add individual support which I do not find in Cura. Recently I also noticed that there is a possibility I can save on plastic with ideamaker than with Cura when having support (Cura support uses more plastic by default) but with the current issue of not producing the correct size - I cannot use the software at all for the output is way off the actual dimension. I now checked on Cura output which I got 26.7mm on physical measurement while in ideamaker it is 27.2mm. Even I got longer print time, it is okay since I am testing but the cause of the longer print time is greatly because of printing a larger size and not because of some settings and algorithm. The final output size will be the deciding factor if the part is useable or not. If we print a 20mm cube, it should come out as 20mm cube and not 20.5mm. This 0.5mm difference is huge in 3D printing parts that should fit together. This 0.5mm difference is on all axis on the final output and is visually bigger also the first time you see it compared side by side with the print done with Cura which I already verified to work well in printing the correct size. Maybe a difference of 0.001mm can be ok for some applications but a 0.5mm? UltiMaker Cura 5.10.0-beta.1 New features and improvementsThe UltiMaker S8 was just announced and is now supported in Cura. The S8 is the newest professional desktop printer in the S series, and it achieves up to 4x the speed of its predecessor while also improving print quality. That is possible thanks to the new UltiMaker Cheetah motion planner and new high flow cores, all of which will be usable at launch with Cura! The introduction of this printer comes with a new Marlin-like Gcode flavor called Cheetah.Support for the 3D SpaceMouse by 3Dconnexion. After launching Cura, go to the printers section and add your machine if you have not yet done so. Most of the best 3D printers using FDM 3D printing technology have their profiles in Cura, and you can set yours up quickly. You also need to set up your nozzle size.
