Share this comment Link to comment I thought the concept behind it was great, and it was interesting to see the old levels re-made into the Doom 3 engine. But gameplay-wise, it was a bit dull, and obviously playing against 3-4 enemy types throughout 8 levels is a let-down (though to be expected).The Spectre was neat. In fact, I spent quite a bit of time making it "even more classic" by applying more true-to-the-the-originals colours (some based off DL'd mods) to the monster skins, better menu graphics, original Doom sounds to it and a bunch of other minor tweaks. ( )In fact, I still occasionally play it and Classic Doom is the only reason that Doom3 is still on my HD. If it hadn't been for Classic Doom, Doom3 would have been uninstalled and almost forgotten about a very, very long time ago. Classic Doom may be a limited set of levels with only a few monsters but it has far more replay value than the main game IMO. Comment Make sure you have Patch 1.3.1 for Doom 3 installed alongside the mod and make sure the mod is located in the following (or similar) directory on your PC:c:\pathtogames\doom 3\cdoom\This is the most common reason for this error. If you use windows, make sure you get the .exe installer for simplicity.Finally, make sure you have no other mods installed with Doom 3 in your 'base' folder otherwise there may be conflicts causing the mod not to work on your machine. GMA 950 has support for both vertex and pixel shaders. A strange thing about GMA 950 is that in DirectX it supports shaders of version 2.0 while in OpenGL supports shaders of version 1.4; OpenGL shader support is implemented rather badly, and many shader based apps in OpenGL run with problems. DirectX apps seem to run without problems.Pixel shaders are implemented in hardware, and vertex shaders are emulated in software.As for the T&L. GMA has a hardware T&L module. The module is used only when running apps which don't use shaders. These are : pretty old games (like quake3, tomb raider 4 and such), and some new games. When using it's T&L module GMA950 is pretty fast. I think it's performance can be compared to GeForce3 in this case. But when you run an application which uses shaders, performance is worse.Still you will be able to launch almost any game on the GMA 950. ( quake3, HL2, doom3, Tomb Raider Legend) run without problems. You don't need zArlCompatibility.pk4 from Redux for Arl's Improvements to work with Redux.Upd. I couldn't reproduce the problem you describe, so can't say exactly how to fix it. Removing it did the trick, now when I start RoE with redux it starts new RoE game (Main Excavation).And you do have 6th Venom's Doom3 RoE HQ mainmenu file in your d3xp folder, right? Anyway I was used to using RadLinker, which allowed me to customize my game icons so that the card would automatically be overclocked and quality settings would be set whenever I launched the game. Is there a program that would allow me to do this with my 6600GT? I'd rather not adjust the quality and OC settings individually before launching each game. #2 Get coolbits and set the overclock to the 3d Preformance settings. Also have the overclock started with your Windows boot. With the 6600GT It will drop down to low speeds when your not gaming and the kick back up when you are. #3 You can setup PowerStrip so that it applies a specific overclock for every game. When you launch the game, it applies the overclock that you previously setup for that game. Thread Starter #4 Thanks for the replies. I tried coolbits and it's good for the OC, since I use the same OC for each game anyway. I guess the quality settings are more important here though. I'd like for it to set AA at 4x and AF at 16x when I play Freedom Force, for example, but to 0 AA and 8x AF when playing Doom3. I find it kind of tedious to change these settings all the time.. 2025-04-06Comment Make sure you have Patch 1.3.1 for Doom 3 installed alongside the mod and make sure the mod is located in the following (or similar) directory on your PC:c:\pathtogames\doom 3\cdoom\This is the most common reason for this error. If you use windows, make sure you get the .exe installer for simplicity.Finally, make sure you have no other mods installed with Doom 3 in your 'base' folder otherwise there may be conflicts causing the mod not to work on your machine. 2025-04-18GMA 950 has support for both vertex and pixel shaders. A strange thing about GMA 950 is that in DirectX it supports shaders of version 2.0 while in OpenGL supports shaders of version 1.4; OpenGL shader support is implemented rather badly, and many shader based apps in OpenGL run with problems. DirectX apps seem to run without problems.Pixel shaders are implemented in hardware, and vertex shaders are emulated in software.As for the T&L. GMA has a hardware T&L module. The module is used only when running apps which don't use shaders. These are : pretty old games (like quake3, tomb raider 4 and such), and some new games. When using it's T&L module GMA950 is pretty fast. I think it's performance can be compared to GeForce3 in this case. But when you run an application which uses shaders, performance is worse.Still you will be able to launch almost any game on the GMA 950. ( quake3, HL2, doom3, Tomb Raider Legend) run without problems. The bad thing is that in GMA oerformance is low, so you'll have to play games like HL2 or doom3 in very low quality settings.

Removing it did the trick, now when I start RoE with redux it starts new RoE game (Main Excavation).And you do have 6th Venom's Doom3 RoE HQ mainmenu file in your d3xp folder, right?
