In addition, compared with the Droid Razr M (which was Verizon's lower-tiered Droid model of last season), the Mini's screen doesn't seem to have that chic edge-to-edge feature the M's flaunted. We were told, though, that the display comes within a millimeter of the phone's width. As for memory, the Maxx will feature 32GB of internal storage, but both the Ultra and Mini will only have 16GB of storage. All Droids, however, will be equipped with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with the same X8 system, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, 2GB of RAM, a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD recording, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The devices also have a few touchless controls. This enables users to make phone calls and search for directions without touching the screen -- a useful function when driving. Even more interesting, and no doubt borne out of Motorola's recent assimilation into Google's corporate empire, the new Droids will constantly listen for your voice commands. Essentially you'll be able to speak to your handset, saying something along the lines of, "OK, Google," and the gadget will immediately perk up and await your instructions. Furthermore, these enhanced Droids offer other nifty tricks such as a Quick Capture camera launch feature, wireless charging, and Droid Zap. Zap allows you to send images within 300 feet of you, and you can swipe with your fingers to share media files. Additional software functions include an Active Display that will light up certain parts of your screen for important notifications, and a Droid Command Center (a revamped version of Motorola's handy Circles widget) where you can launch Miracast TV for wireless media streaming to compatible HDTVs and other devices. IntroductionFor those keeping track, we recently reviewed the Motorola DROID Ultra and the DROID Mini, which now leaves us with its big brother, the DROID MAXX. There are a few key differences between the Motorola DROID MAXX and the DROID Ultra – first the MAXX has a higher capacity 3500mAh battery to provide longer usage time, as well as 32GB of internal memory instead of only 16GB, and soft-touch coating on the back of the device. Because of these extra features, the Motorola DROID MAXX has a premium price of $300 with a 2-year Verizon contract, making it $100 more than the DROID Ultra. Are these extra features worth the price of the DROID MAXX? Let’s take a closer look.Included in the retail package is the Motorola DROID MAXX XT1080 smartphone, 2-port USB wall charger, microUSB cable, and user guides.DesignWhen looking at the Motorola DROID MAXX next to the DROID Ultra from the font, it may be difficult to even notice a difference. On the right edge of the phone is the power/lock key and volume rocker, which are raised-up and have a nice texture to them so they are easy to find. Up on top is a 3.5mm headset jack, with the microUSB port on the bottom, and the camera with LED flash and external speaker on the back. If you are wondering about the SIM card slot, it is actually part of the volume rocker. All you need to do it get your fingernail (or a small pin) under the center part, push up and pull out. This is an interesting way to make use of all available space, instead of having a separate SIM slot.Invalid image metaDisplayBoth the DROID MAXX and DROID Ultra make use of the same 5” Super AMOLED display with 720x1280 resolution. Motorola Droid Mini I did some traveling via bus over my winter break from school and brought the Droid Mini with me. I started the return leg of my trip with about 50 percent of its battery left and it lasted the entire six-hour ride without dying, despite me continuing to frequently use it. This phone was also very fast at downloading apps, even in the middle of nowhere in Indiana while on the bus. The Droid Mini has a 4.3-inch screen and supports Verizon’s 4G LTE network. At only $49.99, and with a nice battery life, this phone is a steal. Motorola Moto X At also just $49.99, the Moto X has many fun features. Google Chrome has an extension you can download called Motorola Connect that lets you text on behalf of your Motorola phone from your computer to any number! Even when you receive phone calls with the extension open, your computer will ring. It’s very useful. With your phone in sleep mode, you can quickly open the Moto X’s camera with just the snap of your wrist. Snapchat redefined. Perhaps the coolest feature the Moto X has is Google Now. Google Now has several voice command options and can perform Google searches. Google Now listens specifically for my voice and can be used without even touching the phone! Just say “OK Google Now” and sky’s the limit! Bose SoundLink Mini I don’t even feel worthy of demoing a product this good. The Bose SoundLink Mini is the heavyweight champion of portable Bluetooth speakers. Once you connect your phone to it, the SoundLink Mini will automatically connect the rest of the way.
