Using the menu "VPN Location Map" does show me a nice overview of the currently connected VPN connections (IPSEC, SSL VPN).However, the locations of the fortigate are most of the time somewhere in the Gulf of Guniea (0°S, 0°E). The physical location of all our fortigates is configured in FortiCloud (product details) with the address (street, ZIP, town, etc.). I did not find a way to set the device location in the fortigate GUI, nor via CLI. I checked with dia "geoip geoip-query " on each fortigate it's own location and it shows a somewhat accurate location (sometimes off by a lot, based on the ISP).So, I have several questions:How does the fortigate determine it's own location used for the VPN location map? From the location configuration in FortiCloud? (difficult, if not impossible)Via geo-ip query? IP addresses are assigned to an organization, and as these are ever-changing associations, it can be difficult to determine exactly where in the world an IP address is located.Different services maintain datasets of this information for public use. Maxmind is one of the most well known. Its service commercial service known as GeoIP, is used for many things including fraud prevention. As an example, a merchant can use the IP location of a customer to cross-reference with Credit Card data to reduce credit card fraud.This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from has a number of products under the GeoIP brand. The commercial options are more accurate than the GeoLite2 version of the database, especially for locations outside of the United States. If an IP address is not blocked again within a month we will remove the IP address from the list. If you use the GeoIP API service you send the IP address of your visitor to one of our servers. This IP Address is however in no way stored at our servers and only used to convert it to a country id. Using this plugin with a caching plugin Please note that many of the caching plugins are not compatible with this plugin. The nature of caching is that a dynamically build web page is cached into a static page. If a visitor is blocked this plugin sends header data where it supplies info that the page should not be cached. Many plugins however disregard this info and cache the page or the redirect. Resulting in valid visitors receiving a message that they are blocked. This is not a malfunction of this plugin.
