Major Events and Eras in American HistoryWhat shaped America as we know it? The United States of America is a relatively young nation in comparison to European countries like Britain and France. Yet, in the years since its founding in 1776, it has made great developments and become a leader in the world. American history can be divided into numerous eras. Let's explore the major events of those periods that shaped modern America. The Age of Exploration SuperStock/Getty Images The Age of Exploration lasted from the 15th through the 17th centuries. This was the period when Europeans searched the globe for trading routes and natural resources. It resulted in the founding of numerous colonies in North America by the French, British and Spanish. The Colonial Era Print Collector/Contributor/Getty Images The Colonial Era is a fascinating period in American history. It covers the time from when the European countries first created colonies in North America to the time of independence. In particular, it focuses on the history of the thirteen British colonies. The Reconstruction Print Collector/Contributor/Getty Images At the end of the Civil War, the U.S. Congress adopted a reconstruction effort to help reorganize and reassimilate the Southern states. It lasted from 1866 to 1877 and was an extremely turbulent period for the nation. The Prohibition Era Buyenlarge/Contributor/Getty Images The fascinating Prohibition Era was a time when America decided to "legally" give up drinking alcohol. Unfortunately, the experiment ended in failure with growing crime rates and lawlessness. It was Franklin Roosevelt who brought the nation out of this period. In the process, he implemented many changes that would shape modern America. The Cold War Authenticated News/Staff/Getty Images The Cold War was a stand-off between the two major superpowers left at the end of World War II: the United States and the Soviet Union. They both tried to further their own ends by influencing nations around the world. The period was marked by conflict and increasing tension that only resolved with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991.. 2025-04-11Answering questions about Davidson when prodded by producers and family members. "That's a big smile," a producer asked during a confessional, after asking who she was texting. "Does his name rhyme with 'feet'?" Kardashian laughed, but didn't respond. Kardashian said on "The Kardashians" that at first she was just looking to hookup when she reached out to Davidson. Paul Morigi/Getty Images In the eighth episode of "The Kardashians" season one, Kardashian said that she didn't have deep intentions when she first tried to get Davidson's number. When he didn't show up at the afterparty for her "Saturday Night Live" episode, Kardashian reached out to one of the show's producers to get his number. "I wasn't even thinking, 'Oh my god, I'm gonna be in a relationship with him.' I was just thinking like, 'heard about this BDE, need to get out there,'" she said, using the acronym for "Big Dick Energy." "I was basically just DTF," Kardashian said — "down to fuck." Kardashian said that Davidson said she'd become "obsessed" with him. Paul Morigi/Getty Images In the ninth episode of "The Kardashians," Kardashian shared more about how she and Davidson got together. By that point in the show's filming, they had been dating for a "few months," and things were going well. "Pete said, 'I'm gonna grow on you, just wait,'" Kardashian said during a confessional. "He's like, he knew. He's like, 'I give it four months in and you're gonna be obsessed.' And I was like, 'Okay, we'll see.'" Kardashian also said during the episode that Davidson was the kind of partner to make small, "cute" gestures like sending her favorite ice cream with her on business trips. "Pete is such a good, good person. I can't even explain it," Kardashian said. "He just has the best heart and always, like, thinks of the small things." Kardashian also said that Davidson asking her out on mundane dates made her "horny." Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson. This is one of the best haircuts for women who love a va-va-voom ‘90s blowout, because Texan Hair just dials things up to 1,000. As seen on Queen Bey, it’s a long haircut that has shorter, face framing layers. Taylor Hill/Contributor/Getty Images2. Raked FringeHair at the 2024 Met Gala was pretty tame, but Ashley Graham rolled up with a raked fringe the internet couldn’t stop talking about. Spoiler: Hers were clip-ons. Given that the shaggy-rocker-grunge vibe is here to stay, I’d have to call this one of the best haircuts for women in 2024. (And channeling your inner Joan Jett is never not cool.) This style is best for those with thicker hair, so you can achieve the “raked” effect without making the front look sparse.Dia Dipasupil/Staff/Getty Images3. Sleeping Beauty HairThe 2024 Met Gala theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” so of course many updos were inspired by a certain Disney princess. As Mermade Hair CEO Tara Simich recently told PureWow Associate Editor Chelsea Candelario, “It’s so chic to be effortless these days,” Mermade Hair CEO Tara Simich told PureWow Associate Editor Chelsea Candelario. “This look is all about less is more—giving European summer from the beach to the bar vibes.” This is a great cut for fine- and thin- haired folks, as it involves minimal layering (or longer layers) that preserve hair density. It’s also easy to style, instantly elevated by a pass with a bristle brush, which will amp the volume.Stefania D'Alessandro/Contributor/Getty Images4. Baroque BobIf you’ve been following the Challengers press tour, you know one of Zendaya’s signature looks is a glamorous, grandiloquent bob.
