I am not sure what 2.1 rom you are using but if it is DC 2.7 then what I did was flash darkstars theme which has the clear main clock/weather widget. Then I flashed back to markstheme cause I like the overall color/taskbar stuff better and the clear clock/weather widget stayed for some reason, which I am happy about.
