The first game in the series was released all the way back in 1993 on the Mac, and featured stunningly-rendered graphics to go along with a lengthy, puzzle-based story. A PC port followed two years later, and a full-fledged sequel, Riven, came out in 1997. The series had already sold a few million copies with just two games, so sequels were inevitable, and indeed followups came quickly, with Myst III: Exile, Myst IV: Revelation, and Uru: Ages of Myst all being released within the last five years. Like all good things, though, Myst had to come to an end at some point, and that point seems to be now, with the release of the appropriately titled Myst V: End of Ages. While the series still has a lot of fans, the games themselves no longer sell as well as they once did, and Cyan Worlds, the developer of most of the titles in the series, recently shut the doors of its game development unit, indicating that End of Ages will be the final installment in the Myst series. That said, though, the game's release has gone forward without a hitch, and no doubt there are plenty of people sitting at their computers and scratching their heads right about now. Myst V: End of Ages, like previous entries in the Myst series, has some head-scratchingly complex puzzles within its various settings. Have no fear, though, as GameSpot's Game Guide to Myst V is here, replete with puzzle solutions. Walkthrough As a note, we're going to do our damndest to get you through the game without spoiling the experience for you. We split most puzzles into three sections: a basic description of what needs to be done, a set of "Vague Hints" (patent pending) that will hopefully nudge you towards the solution on your own, and, if those fail, a full walkthrough and puzzle solution. I bought Revelation and EOA late in the summer of 09 and then got URU as a Xmas present from wifey. I played and wrote a walkthrough for Revelation in the fall of 2009 then later in 2010 I played and wrote a walkthrough for EOA mid summer 2010. It's been so long, I'm not sure of the exact dates, but I played the heck out of URU later in 2011 and sure I was on the verge of beginning a walkthrough when Frankie III died. Needless to say Frankie IV is Win 7 64 and none of the Myst games ... none of the games I had back to win 98 would work on the new 64 bit OS.I did find some patches that let me get back some of my PC games COD and FEAR but there are issues with both, none of which are game stoppers as with Myst. June 14, 2016 | Filed under: Gaming Did you know it’s still possible to run the original version of Myst on modern Mac OS X? Here’s how to do it. What you will need: Original Mac Myst CD “Chubby Bunny” Classic on Intel software In OS X: Make a disc image of the Myst CD in Disk Utility as a .cdr file. Download and expand COIV4.0.1+.zip from the link above. From the COIV4.0.1+ folder, expand “800Meg.blank HD.dmg.zip”, then place 800Meg.dmg into /Users/Shared/. This will be the hard drive for the OS9 environment. Mount 800Meg.dmg and copy your Myst.cdr onto it. Unmount 800Meg. Run Classic.app. In OS 9: Open the System Folder/Extensions and trash the QuickTime, QuickTime MPEG, QuickTime PowerPlug, QuickTime VR extension as well as the QuickTime Extensions Folder. This version of QuickTime doesn’t work with Myst, so we will use the version on the Myst CD. Open the 800Meg hard drive and mount Myst.cdr using Disc Copy. Copy the QuickTime extension from the Myst CD into the System Folder/Extensions. Restart OS9. Now mount the Myst CD just like before, run Myst and enjoy. Question or Comment?

As much of a PITA getting back from a BS link is, there are some that are very important to as full an experience as possible, e.g., completing the "To D'ni" GZ marker puzzles for one. Lastly in 2011, "Path of the Shell", I made it to the tree from the Pub and walked the maze but did so without actually completing the entire offer from the game. There was a significant part at the end of Ahnonay, (Space Ahnonay and the main control rm from maintenance area #4) the office and the ride to it. I have no recollection of the lower Bahro cave or utilizing the power stones to light the cavern up for the final and deciding 6X8 image grid that allows you to acquire even more goodies once you return to Relto.__________________________________________________________________________5.
