If Prime95 kills a CPU that CPU already had a problem and would die anyways. Might as well find out while its still under warranty. As mentioned above the CPU will throttle back if it need be. Relistically I've never had a CPU / RAM that didn't fail fairly quickly in Prime95. So while I used to let it run Plan. Keep that in mind, as there’s no way for us to guarantee things won’t go awry if you overclock a CPU. All risks are your own. What follows is nothing more than a set of guidelines based upon our own experience.In order run Prime95 at 5GHz, our CPU sample requires 1.35Vcore. Power consumption under that load comes in at 131 Watts, which is comfortably below 2X the stock power consumption of Prime95. I've had my System for a year, maybe more so that's why I'm worried.I doubt that I'd stress-test my system more than 2, 3 or 4 hours. I doubt I could stay-up for more than 12 hours checking how the tests are going. I also want to see if my CPU can take the heat.Thanks for the help and fast reply's. @Night Owl: Do you have a reason for running Prime95? Other than impressing yourself and others?
