I type the letters and Pro DC produces the words on my iMac screen. Converting the file to Microsoft provides me with both the word count for the page I'm on, plus the grand total. My lengthy manuscript is for a novel and the word count must be included when one submits their work to a publisher. By rule, word count for a novel should not exceed 110,000 words. There are exceptions.The fact that you have no need to count words is your business and totally irrelevant.
