Quick Links Forcing The Opponent To Forfeit One of the newest match types in WWE 2K23 is the WarGames. The WarGames match is a tornado-style tag team matches inside two adjoined rings surrounded by a steel cage. It was a popular event during the WCW days and was promoted to Survivor Series in 2023. The WarGames match in WWE 2K23 pits two teams against each other. Except for the first two opponents, the teams are locked in a cage and must wait for the timer to count down before a new entrant arrives - similar to the Elimination Chamber. This can get one side at a disadvantage for a time, but a winner can only be announced when all members of the opposing teams are in the ring at once. WarGames Rules The rules are announced before the match begins, but if a player has never watched or played the WarGames in WWE 2K23 before, it can be easy to skim over the rules and get confused about the stipulations. Matches can be three-on-three or four-on-four. When the timer has counted down, the next member of the opposing team will leave their cell and enter the ring. When all entrants are in the ring at once, the announcer will state that WarGames has begun. The match is won when one member is defeated by pinfall, submission, or thrown out of the cage - from the top. Weapons In The WarGames As it's a no-disqualification match, players can bring weapons into the WarGames match before they enter the ring after the timer. One of the most successful tag teams in WWE history, the Dudley Boyz grew to fame off the back of their famous antics involving tables, which saw them plant the likes of The Rock, Edge, Jeff Hardy, and even Trish Stratus through the woodwork. Their popularity skyrocketed in 1999-2000 following a series of ladder matches and the first ever "Tables, Ladders and Chairs" match with Edge & Christian and the Hardy Boyz, a match stipulation that has risen to claim its own pay-per-view in WWE's annual calendar. The omission of the Dudleys from the 2k23 roster may be attributed to Bubba Ray's current affiliation with the National Wrestling Alliance, however, fans will still be hoping to see the half-brothers in 2k23. 5 The Hardy Boyz Just as the Dudley Boyz are synonymous with tables, The Hardys are the first names that spring to mind when fans think about great ladder technicians in WWE history. With the inclusion of Lita, Team Extreme were famous for their high-flying acrobatics that saw them perform potential career-ending stunts on a regular basis. TL;DR: MyGM mode has improved significantly in WWE 2K23 but it’s still lacking a few highly-requested features. It seems to be on the right path for future success. After making its long-awaited return in WWE 2K22, MyGM brought back a lot of nostalgia and fun for gamers. However, it clearly needed more than just a makeover if it was going to succeed long-term. A lot of essential features were missing and it needed more than just a few quality-of-life improvements.This review breaks down the new features in MyGM 2K23 and is a bit of a 2K23 vs 2K22 comparison. CriticismsWe’ll start off with the negatives as it’s best to get these out of the way early doors. No matches with 6+ superstarsDespite adding new match types and stipulations, we’re still unable to put on 6-man or 8-man matches, which is a little disappointing. Things like 3-way tag matches are pretty popular in WWE right now so it’d be cool to be able to put on matches like this. It’d also allow us to build our own stables within the game like Imperium or The New Day, which would give the game a lot more personality and would make me a lot more invested in the storylines I was building. As for 8-man matches, these could be Battle Royales, 4-way tag matches, and there are loads of options there to make it work. That would allow us to put on some killer matches at War Games, which would be a really cool thing to be able to do in GM mode.Speaking of War Games (and its absence), there are still a lot of match types missing that would be great additions to MyGM.Having a Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event (PLE) would shift the dynamic completely and make it both more challenging and more immersive. Elimination Chambers could even be made up of three level 4 rivalries that all come to a head at once, making for a great chamber match. I know that they’d probably have to alter the budgeting and roster sizes to accommodate this, but it’s something that I think would be incredibly fun.
