Zeno Clash follows the story of a young man who betrays his parental figure and must fight for survival in the wilderness using mostly his fists and a few projectile weapons. It's a time-worn tale as far as videogames are concerned but throw in the caveat that his father/mother is a giant rooster and some of his siblings are deformed, bipedal, farm animals and you've got yourself a rarity: an experience that feels wholly original. Zeno Clash takes place in an odd dream world, populated by violent cavemen, ogres, and crazed human-animal hybrids. To go along with the demented cast the surroundings are suitably weird; more like dreamscapes than traditionally structured levels. Zeno Clash absolutely succeeds at raising eyebrows through these strange and off-putting design elements, though in some instances "odd" doesn't necessarily equal "good." Aside from these unique visuals and borderline insane story, Zeno Clash is mostly a first-person brawler. Players use the triggers to throw light and heavy punches and the face buttons to block, and toss grenades. The camera sways and heaves with the player even as he gets pummeled to the ground. It's an immersive and sometimes dizzying technique, perhaps best previously implemented in Mirror's Edge, but it has its drawbacks. Namely, it's difficult to tell exactly when an opponent is within the range of your fists. Once you get used to getting up in people's faces to inflict damage there is a rhythm and a bit of depth to the combat. There are timed blocks, counters, and a couple of combos to be learned. For example running before a hard punch results in an elbow attack that breaks through the guard of most enemies. It's possible to build up an expert technique in Zeno Clash, unfortunately the intelligence of the enemies hardly require players to really tap into the more complicated moves to win a bout. There are a few projectile weapons including guns and spears fashioned out of animal carcasses. The "shooting" is loose and takes a little getting used to. Every gun or crossbow requires a reload animation that leaves you temporarily vulnerable. Other than when a ranged attack is required, you'll happily switch back to your fists. Zeno Clash has an ample tutorial and keeps the player engaged as the main character Gat and his female companion traipse from the city, to the desert, to ethereal wastelands, each area more visually interesting than the last. The people and things they meet along the way are interesting enough to make up for the often nonsensical story. The story is short lived, but supplemented by a cooperative arena that can be played both split-screen and online. I found the local co-op to be a bit choppy and the consecutive fights eventually blend together into a never-ending stream of punching things in the face.VerdictAt its best Zeno Clash is reminiscent of some Guillermo del Toro films (Pans Labyrinth) and at its worst it feels like one of Napoleon Dynamite's notebook drawings set

In a fantasy world where all creations are its own, Father-Mother only fears one—Ghat. The player controls Ghat in his quest to find Father-Mother and fight his way through the hermaphrodite's loyal minions. Even more impressive are the visuals—at first glance, these whimsical vistas will have you floored. Doubly so when one finds that the game is based on the Source platform, as the trailer is void of any hard angles or urban areas that has been the mainstay of environments traditionally found in Source titles. Attach to that a first-person melee combat system and you have all the elements that point to a bold and original game developed outside the circle of influence in which most current-generation games reside. What were your motivations and inspirations for creating something outside of the realm of what most gamers are used to today?Andres Bordeu: Here at ACE Team we’re all passionate gamers and we enjoy playing all types of games; from the triple AAA titles to the creative indie games. We enjoy playing Call of Duty or Halo as much as any other gamer, but we definitely feel that in the more conservative world of first-person shooters there is a big emptiness. Apparently very few studios are willing to go for unconventional ideas. Maybe this is because larger companies are reluctant to take risky choices and prefer a safer approach. This seems to be the standard in many of today's first-person games, but that doesn’t mean there’s no room for those who are thinking outside of the box. From a certain point of view going for the unconventional has been the safe thing to do for us. We’re a small dev studio working on our debut project. We knew it was impossible to compete with big companies that tend to put a lot of their muscle in technology graphics-wise. We had to present

AN: When I first visited the USA to see other webcomic artists, I was amazed to hear them talking about trying to make popular things. Obviously, I have always wanted my work to be popular, but it never occurred to me (maybe being British?) that you could make something so flagrantly where the main aim was to be popular. At one point I realised Webcomic Name could be very popular (my April Fools "oh no" comics were by far my most popular comics at the time) and that I could make it into something with enough layers of irony that I could sell out and still keep my integrity!GC: Do you have a personal favorite Webcomic Name strip? One that's maybe more personal?AN: I think it might be "Different", where pink blob smashes everything. It is very much how I live my life -- I frequently realise I am content and then decide that means I need change. I used to think it was because I was always clamoring for something better, but often it is just cleaning the mess I have made and trying to feel normal again. It's still something I do and I'm trying to make it a positive thing rather than a destructive thing. The great thing about the comic was that I decided to post it the day that Trump got elected, and it connected with a lot of young people who felt people had protested against the establishment and messed everything up in the process. A lot of people also posted it in relation to Brexit for the same reasons. The winner of the tournament.Hit returns to the platform and says that he no longer wants the cube, but simply wants to be returned home immediately. Champa tells Hit that he cannot allow him to return alive for repeatedly ignoring his orders and losing the final match so easily. Cabba then attempts to calm Champa down, but Champa then yells at him as well, then saying how all of the fighters of this tournament disgraced him and embarrassed him with their seemingly pathetic performances. Goku attempts to help, but Beerus says that it isn't in his place to interfere, and that his place and role in the tournament is over. Champa continues to make threats, and offers the fighters to use whatever techniques they want to fight him, and just as Champa is preparing to destroy them, Vados notes that Zeno has arrived for the tournament, as Whis also notes this as well, with both Champa and Beerus completely mortified and shocked with his arrival. Supreme Kai doesn't know who Zeno is, so Old Kai slaps him. Champa and Beerus bowing before the Omni-King Beerus and Champa rush over and bow down to meet him, and all the Kais then fly down to also greet Zeno. Zeno tells them that they were having the tournament without his permission so he came to warn the destroyers. Whis and Vados inform him and tell him about Beerus' and Champa's foolery (Beerus' eating and sleeping for excessive amounts and Champa's overweight, unwillingness to loose weight, and his disrespect to his assistant), and Zeno says that they now might need new Gods of Destruction of universe 6 & 7. Beerus and Champa scream, and Zeno says that he was just joking. He says that he was watching the tournament, and that he actually really enjoyed it and that he wants to do it again, but this time with fighters from all twelve universes. Goku then goes over and tries to talk to Zeno, but his servants stop him. Zeno says it's alright and Goku shakes his hand. Zeno then takes his servants hands, and leaves. Once Zeno has left, Beerus mocks Champa about how now he has the Super Dragon Balls. Champa says he doesn't care because it'll take a while for them to find the final one anyway. Alex Norris has the soul of a poet, the hand of a cartoonist, and the self-awareness of a really, really self-aware person. That's why Webcomic Name succeeds where so many other meta comics might not. Norris loves the sequential art medium and he's endeavored to explore its power across numerous series including Dorris McComics and others. He's an expert. So when he decided to parody gag strips with a series of his own, his love radiated with integrity. Just as the surface of the sun burns hotter than its core, so too does the juxtaposition of relatable experiences with a running gag of deadpan despair.That was our assumption, anyway, before we hit up the British cartoonist about his recently-launched GC series. Fortunately, he confirmed it across a range of questions. Read on and be enlightened. Just note I didn't edit his Queen's English spelling. I insist you read his answers in a British accent. It's only proper.GoComics: What was the impetus for Webcomic Name and did you expect you'd take the series this far?Alex Norris: My other webcomic series, Dorris McComics, was a very laboured project where I usually tried to push the boundaries of comics. This meant it was updated sporadically and a lot of effort went into each one. For April Fools 2015 I thought it would be funny to go against people's expectations of Dorris McComics and update 8 times in one day with really bad relatable comics, and the punchline was always "oh no"! I had such fun writing those "oh no" comics that a while later I realised I could probably make a whole series of them. My aim is to make it last forever- I love doing a daily comic because the series itself becomes this morphing, ever-changing thing with new elements added all the time, and it is a cool challenge to try and keep it interesting while having the same limitations. GC: Webcomic Name can be perceived as inherently meta -- a sort of satire on "relatable content" that's also "relatable content" on its face. How would you personally classify how it.
